Global Cooperation: From outer space to virtual reality, Collaboration brings us together
Special thanks to all the IRA interns (Cyrus in particular) for helping to put on a seamless show at this week’s Eco:nomics Conference held here in beautiful Santa Barbara (I know you’re jealous).
It was an inspirational experience and it’s got me looking towards the future and ready to talk innovation.
Innovation, as you know, is exploding through our internet cables, in our research laboratories and universities and beyond.
Cisco Inc. and NASA have formed a partnership to create a collaborative global monitoring platform dubbed the “Planetary Skin.”
- The “skin” is responsible for capturing, collecting, and reporting data on environmental conditions around the world.
- The overall goal is to help detect and adapt to global climate change.
- Cisco lends their expertise with next gen internet, to replicating and scaling the “Planetary Skin” to millions.
Since it’s important to not completely destroy our planet, collaboration is key. And many of the world’s nations have joined forces to plan for the future.
Six leading astronomers from the UK, the US, Europe and Asia have come together in March’s Physics World to write about the challenges we will be facing in the coming decades:
- Clarifying the true nature of dark matter and energy.
- Funding and managing of astronomical facilities
The future of global astronomy? Largely optimistic, due to technological developments and promising, remarkable progress.
Let’s face it if astronomers weren’t so optimistic, our futures would look pretty bleak. Apocalypse Now, indeed. So their partnership is a very good thing, unless of course you secretly emulate Martin Sheen.
Of course the internet is an example of cooperation that most of us are intrinsically familiar with and regularly take advantage of. Now, services like Cozimo offer high quality video collaboration services.
With Cozimo:
- Users can leave notes directly on images and video frames
- Collaborate using photos, PDFs and video in real time
By giving us an easy way to work together online, Cozimo can connect co-workers in the workplace or CEOs across continents.
Between the world, and the world wide web, innovation has become seemingly boundless.
Not to sound like a broken Beatles record, but “Come together, Right now!”
